Awesome portrait of a Great Blue Heron spreading its wings out while perched on a rock in a pond and hunting for its next meal. This posture is common in the hot days of summer to help the birds cool off or to dry their wings.

Sue, this is an amazing capture of the heron! I love how they spread their wings like this, I am not sure if they are stretching or what, but an interesting move none the less. Lovely image, an instant favorite!
