Description
Portrait of a female Eastern bluebird perched on the side of a blue dish on a deck railing with a beak full of meal worms to feed to her babies. Photo taken in Charlotte, NC.
Story behind photo: I love feeding the bluebirds meal worms in this blue dish on my deck railing. A pair of bluebirds had a nest full of babies in my bluebird house. This female bluebird was determined to pick up every last worm in its bill to take back to her nest of babies!! She worked for several minutes, dropping some, picking more up, until she got them all!! Good mommy to her babies!

Sue, you timed this just right! So bright and pretty. I love watching birds, and bluebirds are such beauties! We don't get them in our yard (only sparrows and goldfinches, mostly) but there's a wildlife refuge closeby that has nesting boxes for bluebirds. I've gone there with my camera a couple of times. They circle back and forth and it's fun to watch their activity.
