Description
A roadside reminder of the danger of falling rocks along a street in the Walsh Bay Precinct in Sydney, Australia. Looks like this car really got smashed!
This sculpture, called "Still Life with Stone and Car" was created by American artist Jimmie Durham, and is part of the Walsh Bay Sculpture Walk, an outdoor exhibition.
This work was conceived as a piece of kinetic performance, with the crushing of "The Car" staged on the Sydney Opera House forecourt as part of the 2004 Biennale of Sydney.
Durham's work now sits on the Pottinger Street roundabout between two "Artwork Ahead" road sign representations by Richard Tipping.
Photographic art created from my original digital image.
